My Review

JD Hawkins writing for me has been so unique from his first book that I am always excited to pick up a new book and see what he has in store for us next. His writing is sexy and direct, and he has a way of pulling stories together with characters you aren’t always sure you’re going to love right off the bat. With Temptation, he took a little different direction. I would say this is the softer and sweeter side of JD Hawkins writing. We still get a great story, but it isn’t the same writing style as I have become accustomed too from him; but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

In Temptation we see the story of Melina and Wyatt. Two young adults that have known each other forever. Suddenly, they find themselves working together at her job. And he’s her “boss”. Her character is fun, and I relate so much because of the photography aspects that this alone made it a fun read for me. He’s a playboy who’s been living in NYC, now relocated and closer to home. When their paths cross sparks fly. Their connection is pretty instant and seeing their love story unfold was wonderful.

This book was a fun and quick read for me and it is truly the lighter side of JD Hawkins. If you aren’t into the heavy on the cocky alpha male aspect, this book is a fun read.

I have to admit it: temptation is hard to resist.

EXCERPT

I go dizzy, feeling so faint I need to close my eyes for a minute before I can do anything but bask. Wyatt strokes my hair slowly, the rough-but-cool touch of his hands bringing me back to life, and when I open my eyes I see him lying there beside me.

Suddenly the haze clears and I feel my stomach sink like a stone. The full magnitude of what just happened forming like a beast on the horizon.

“Oh god…I can’t believe we just…” I mumble.

“Yeah…” Wyatt replies with a lazy grin. “We did.”

The anxiety comes fast, flooding into that empty space left by orgasm.

Wyatt. My childhood crush. A friend I share with our families, our entire group. My new, albeit temporary, boss. As amazing as it felt in the moment, the myriad ways in which this was a horrible idea come out from wherever they were hiding an hour ago.
