My Review
I fell in love with Annika’s writing when I read her Dangerous Royals series. Her writing blew me away and the series was such an unexpected twist on the romantic suspense genre of the book world. So, when I saw she was co-authoring with Skye Warren, who I have not read, I was very interested in this one.
Hostage follows the story of Stone and Brooke. Stone is part of a group of now men, that as boys were abducted and forced into child sex trafficking. They have all now committed their life as free men to seek revenge on the group of people that are accountable for their abduction and things that occurred when they were just boys. Brooke is a witness to a murder on her 16th birthday and soon finds herself taken by a man she knows she should hate. She shouldn’t be as drawn to a cold-blooded murderer like she is, yet she isn’t able to control how she feels when he’s around. He will come to her over and over and tell her she belongs to him, and seeing how this dark and twisted their love affair is makes this for a very captivating read. You don’t know where the story is going to take them from one page to another and the darkness within him, the need for revenge, is so dark but also sensual. Their chemistry is something I’ve never read before and adds even more darkness to this twisted tale.
